Notarized documents filed with Illinois and Michigan Canal commissioners and trustees by contractors authorize persons to act as their legal representatives in financial recovery efforts for completed construction work. In addition to notifying the canal officials of legal representative selection, some documents concern powers of attorney revocations and includes contractor name delegating power of attorney; and agreement or rescinding date.
